What is Concrete Slabs?

Concrete slabs are an extremely popular structural component used in building construction. It is a flat, thick horizontal concrete slab used to build the floor and roof. Concrete slabs, which are placed on the soil directly or on foundations for support, are used to create the ground floor for some residential buildings.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slabs can be a challenge if you don't have the knowledge and skills for them. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors employ strict procedures for concrete slab installation that is in line with codes and standards of the industry.

Safety is the top priority in all our concrete projects. Before starting any project, we ensure that we are equipped with safety equipment. We have gloves and long sleeves, as well as long pants, and rubber boots. These safeguard us from concrete splashes which could cause harm to our overall health or well-being.

These steps are followed in addition.

Step 1: Preparation for the Site

We use the same process regardless of whether working on a small slab or a huge project. The preparation of the site is the very first stage in all of our projects. Before we begin clean up any garbage and tidy up the site. In the course of our preparation we make sure that all the materials are available. The transportation of materials is scheduled before actually work can begin. This allows us to complete the project on schedule.

Step 2 - Build concrete forms and reinforce concrete slabs with steel

Once the site is clean and ready, we proceed with the construction of concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms are strong barriers that hold the concrete mixture in the right place. They create an solid block that keeps the concrete mix. We use rebar to strengthen concrete for larger structures. This ensures the concrete surface is stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To make it easier, we use a concrete truck. It helps ensure concrete materials are properly mixed. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. In most cases, however we employ the concrete mixer.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After we have finished mixing concrete, we put the concrete slab in our molds. We pour the concrete mixture carefully so as to not create air pockets. Air pockets can be created by too little mortar in the gaps surrounding the aggregate. When we pour concrete, it is essential that we distribute the mix evenly across the form - never missing a single spot.
